Let's Talk About Maintenance!

Maintenance!Sometimes, it's a dreaded word.... But, it has to be done, right?! Vehicle maintenance shouldn't be different than all of the other maintenance items in our lives, which is a hefty list when you think about it. Dental cleanings, annual physicals, furnace and A/C inspections, changing your furnace filter, weekly laundry, mowing the lawn, paying the bills, the list could go on and on!

When you miss intervals for some of these things, it's very obvious. If you don't do the laundry, you won't have clean clothes to wear. If you don't mow the lawn, your grass will be over grown. Some items are less obvious. If you don't get regular dental cleanings, you may end up with a cavity. If you don't have an annual physical, you may miss an illness of some sort. Then there are the ones that are the least obvious, like vehicle maintenance or furnace and A/C inspections. With these, regular maintenance keeps things running better in the long term and allows you to find something that may be worn but not yet broken.

Vehicle maintenance comes in many forms. The best thing is to ensure you are getting your oil changed at the right frequency. This way, you can get other maintenance items checked on at the same intervals.

So, let's talk about vehicle maintenance and how to be proactive with car care!

FLUIDS. If it's liquid and it's in your car, it has a replacement schedule. These can include oil, transmission fluid, coolant, power steering fluid, brake fluid, differential fluid, etc.

TIRES. When you think about it, tires are one of the core parts of the car! They need air, rotation, balancing and alignment. And on the subject of tires, you have to think about SUSPENSION. Worn suspension parts like struts and shocks, create more wear and tear on your tires.

BRAKES. Let's be honest, worn brake pads and rotors reduce your stopping power. So, safety first, get those brakes inspected.

FILTERS. Everyone thinks about their oil filter which gets changed with every oil change. But less of us think about our air filter and cabin air filter. Think of the air filters like the furnace filter in your house, which you are supposed to change every 6 months (you are welcome for the reminder!). Filters catch dirt - the air filter keeps dirt out of your engine and the cabin air filter keeps dirt out of the cabin area of your car, where you always are!

At Krafftkare, every vehicle that comes in the shop gets a multi-point courtesy inspection that includes photos and explanations of any and all items that need maintenance or repair. Make an appointment today for your regular maintenance check!
